    Trailer lights shorting out constantly

I recently purchased a new boat with trailer and I`ve had headaches with my trailer wiring. My lights started shorting out after two weeks of owning the boat. I did a quick check and realized that there were a few areas where the wire was rubbing against the braces of the trailer and wore through the wire insulation, thus wire on metal. I wrapped all of these "contact" spots with electrical tape and replaced the fuse (in the truck). This worked great for almost a month. The other day, I had the lights short out again. I did another throurough check to find that there were no areas on the wiring where the insulation was wearing through. I couldn`t find a problem in the world. I should mention that the day they shorted out, I backed my trailer into the boat launch without disconnecting the wires from the truck. BUT, I do have the waterproof lighting on my trailer. Could this have still caused a problem. Probably two hours after I launched the boat that day the wires shorted out. It seems like this would have been an immediate occurance if it was related to not disconnecting my lights, but I`m just not sure. I read a recent post about using electical tape then using clear PVC solvent to seal it and I will try to do that but in the meantime, I need to find out what is causing the short and blowing my fuses. Can anyone offer any help?

The trailer manufatcurer is Magic Tilt. In any event I have heard good things from others about this trailer, but I incessantly have yet to see handily anything good come out of this. In spite of as for respectively taking it to the daeler. Im afraid they may sabatoge it worse than it arleady is. Last time I went down there with a problem we almost got into a fist fight and they really don`t like me now.
