Lodging - south shore of Long Island

I've got an upcoming trip to Long Island, so my company's headquarters staff can torment me with useless meetings. I figured I'd spend some off time fishing on the south shore, to keep myself from killing any of the office people.

They usually put me in one of the chain hotels, like the Hampton Inn in
Commack, with a lovely view of a parking lot, for $150 per night. As an alternative, I'm trying to find some DECENT motels along 27 or 27A, east of the Nassau-Suffolk county line and west of Patchogue. This way, I'm closer to the water. But, hard as I've tried, I can't find listings for smaller, privately owned lodging down that way.

Can anyone recommend either some specific places, or a site that might list such lodgings?
