    Fly rod for tarpon

I'm planning to purchase a fly rod to use for tarpon. I'm thinking about a TandT Horizon 12wt. Any thoughts or comments to share?

    Fly Rod Tarpon

You might want to try fast to very fast fly rod. Most fly rods in the 10 wt are usually set up for salt water. TFO TiCr in a 10 wt is a good rod to start with. They run less than 250 usd. And get a 10 wt fly reel. Load it with 10 wt fwd floating fly line (for the tropics), and 30# backing.
Try going to a fly shop, or small sporting goods store. They will treat you a lot better than the big box stores such as Bass USA etc. You might want to try Cabelas. Pick up a salt water fly fishing magazine, and do your home work
