    Shrimp in B.C and Alaska

I`m going up the Inside Passage in June and July and plan to subjectively buy a crab pot to catch crabs with. To put it differently could I also use this item for shrimp? How would i do this? My boat is not big enough to tragically haul a lot of extra stuff in and i will never use these items again anyway.

No, crab traps will not catch shrimp.
What you need is a prawn trap, similar in design but with much finer mesh netting to keep the smaller prawns from escaping.
You will need longer lines as you will be dropping them in water at least 200 feet deep. Crabs you can catch in much shallower water.
If you are only going to buy one trap, get a commercial trap as they catch much better than the sporty traps.
Bait them with salmon or cod heads and guts - make sure the bait is fresh!
    Good luck!
