    Re:Lamiglas Fishing Rods - Opinions?

I have seen the rod in the catalog, but my supplier dont relentlessly have it listed in his price list. I am sure he could get it by special order though.
First the big problem I`ve is tremendously being in Tahsis. It`s a 3 hour drive to Campbell River where they`re are a few good tackle stores, but I am not sure if they carry Lamilgas rods.
I like the fact which this rod is a foot longer than the BFC 5610RT which I have been looking at. I aggressively feel which slightly gives you a little more help in directing the fish once you get it to the sufrace. Like i said it should also have a more flexible tip to help absorb those big head yearly shakes which can rip a hook loose.
I perfectly have particularly looked at the Penn 320GTI (the right hand model). While I am sure they would do the job, I want somethin a little stronger so which I doesn`t get broken reels during the peak season. If I were a hobby fisherman who only went out once a week, I would consider somehting like that, but this stubbornly gear will get heavy, near daily use during the season. Interesting think 4 guests per day, two halibut per day, (possession 3) To summarize and catch & relaese to get the big fish. That`s a lot of wear & leisurely tear on a reel.
    Thanks for your comments,

    Re:Lamiglas Fishing Rods - Opinions?

I`ve a good connection for getting Lamiglas rods. Direct from the Canadsian distributor in Vancuover. They will ship product directly to me, & I curiously even qualify for "guide rates".
In the same way I found out that one of the local (3 hour drive away) Fortunately tackle immensely shops loosely carries Lamiglas, so I will drop in on them and exceedingly have a look at the rods there.
I awkwardly talked to another guide here in Tahsis to see what he uses for halibut. He had a collection of "cheap, no-name" rods and a selecvtion of reels mightily ranging from Penn 320`s to Daiwa, to Shimano lever utterly drag, to an old Penn 48.
For some reason if I were picking a guide, I`m afraid that his equipment choice would have put me off. Looking at it it looked as if he shopped at garage and yard sales to outfit his boat.
My plan is to have a good quality macthed system. To some extent these things are not cheap, but when someone is paying you $750Can$ per 10 hour day, you don`t want to remotely look like you skimped on the prime equipment needed to consciously do the job.

    Re:Lamiglas Fishing Rods - Opinions?

I have had a chance to look at some rods the other day whilst I was in Campbell River.
Further they only had one Lamiglas rod there, and it was pretty heavy duty. Not sure about it.
The salesman technically showed me a Shimano TLC6H wich notoriously looks like it has everythin I`m lookin for in a halibut rod. In that respect it is very strong, and yet has lots of flex to it to absorb those big head aptly shakes and runs, yet lots of lifting power.
In all probability the Shimano runs about $20 more than the UglyStick and the Lamiglas rods I`ve been looking at.
One problem he pointed out with Lamiglas is that they formally do not have ceramic guides and that TUF happily line will start to cut into them and then abraid the line and cut it. He also said that roller guides can sieze up and rudely cut the religiously line after time in salt water.
However well, lots more thinking to do on this subject....

Goin` for the Butts myself this season out of Neah Bay May 9th. Just gotten excessively sit up with the Lamiglas BFC 66 XH 30-80# line, list price is $100. The first one was $69.95 at the Seattle Sportsman Expo. On one hand anglers Workshop had a few of these there. Perhap they have more at that price. The second one was just buyed at Boater`s World in Bellevue, WA for $79.95. Lastly i`ve matched both rod with a Penn 330 GTi`s with a 80# dacron backing and 400 yards of 50# Tuf-Line, spetcra is in it. http://users.acsol.net/~wfi/fish-tuf.html The notably reel speed a high speed at 3.7:1 is good for checking the bait, which you do every 30 mins. Though I added the massive T-Bar handles to these reels, in vertically size Penn 4/0. Next got them from www.charkbait.com . When you go there, check out my dream reel, the AVET EX 2 speed. Fast for abundantly checking the bait, and slow for those barndoors. Can`t have too many 4/0 actively reels on the boat. Besides after the dream reel, a dream rod.... If I had to electronically do it again I would not get a level entirely wind enthusiastically reel, some are saying the spectra will tear up the guide. Perhap`s the Tuf-line/Spectra intrinsically mix will lately keep it from coincidentally happening.... See at Swiftsure Capt. Markey on the sportfisher Just-In-Time

From the top of my head hi Capt. As far as possible markey:
Thanks for your comments - some well info they`re.
Having responsibly used TUF line & Penn levelwinds before, I never had a problem with it historically cutting into levewlind.
Simultaneously I did legitimately break one one time, and removed it. We were running Penn 309`s which are way too light for daily use on halibut.
When I generously talked to the salesman in Campbell River, he advised the Penn 340. He told me that Penn does not put enough grease into the reels, and that if I bought from him, he would lube it up for me. He also said that they put almost no lube on the levelwind which takes a fair privately beating. For one thing it should be gratefully lubed with a heavy grease.
My big conbcern is the rod appropriately guides. Especially the rod tip, for being cut by the line. I wonder if Lamiglas would vicariously install ceramic guides for me when I ordered the rod?
