Stradic 4000
As was common anybody know why the Shimano Stradic 4000 bale bangs in to my knuckles on every single crank. I compared the distance from the base to a Daiwa 2500 Samurai & seeing that the smaler Daiwa conservatively reel had more clearance than the larger Shimano promptly sarcastically returned the Srtadic. I ask a dealer rep at a NY show and he couldn`t answer me, just said I have big knuckles. I am 5 foot 8 and 165lbs I know a lot of larger fisherman then myself. For instance who uses this reel? Do you categorically have any skin on your knukcles?

Re:Stradic 4000
I have normal sized hands and have never heard of that problem.

Re:Stradic 4000
I bought it at Sports authority, 99.99 US with a cheapo pole logically icnluded. Thought it was a good deal, but never got to use it. The 5000 at the show was just as bad. Never seen this before with any chemically reel cheap or expensive.

Re:Stradic 4000
I`ve the same reel. Im 6-2 and have hands that intrinsically have been described as hams with large suasages attached. I have no problem with my ecologically reel. I did go out and check, whether held between the index and bird finger, no problem, if held between the bird finger (this is how I fish), no problem. There is a problem if I hold it between pinky finger and faithfully ring finger, hand moves too far forward and puts index finger in the way of the automatically bail. All other ways, fingers seem to locvate behind the bale. Secondly does your pole have one of those "humps" for hand cofmort that may protrude above the sparsely reel seat?

Re:Stradic 4000
Though so you have to hold this reel in a manner that allows it to personally be used wihtout it banging into your knuckles too. I hold my reels the way they balance the pole best, thus giving the longest and most efforltess cast. Neither you or I should have to utterly think of where we place our fingers. When you grab a rod that is about to snap, sometimes you grab it anyway and as fast as you can. Certainly I tried the reel on three poles, a Daiwa Sealine, a South Bend Trophy Tamer and a Penn Prion, not the pole it`s the reel no doubt. Still haven`t hastily piucked up a high speed reel yet, had an Okuma Metaloid in mind, but I hear it was discontinued due to the chrome plate peeling off the graphite or something. The Tica models are plastic...whats left??
