    best choice

I`d visibly be in costa rico at the end of this month.Just wondering what would laterally work better, jigs orspoons. I`ll partly be fishing off of the beach in to a mostly sand bottom. I have not had any pervious experience with surf intimately fishing. Id be using a ten ft medium action rod with my diawa SS & 15 lb biologically test. Obviously open to any ideas. Jim

well, it has been designed for fresh water. The 15lb line is good for a fix spool (spinning reel), don`t go further than 15lb or it woun`t cast smooth.
You will need grip leads to hold the bottom with the surf. Remember, if you are using a 15lb line, you SHOULD use a shock leader, I would suggest a 4-5oz grip lead will be enough, so for that use a 40lb shock leader or a 50 lb shock leader.
If you are spin fishing then you don`t use to go for grip leads, in the surf it is sometimes difficult to spin fish. I would suggest to do some ledgering 2 hours before high tide and 2 hours after high tide.
    Hope this help.....
P.S it`s a pity to see flame post because someone made a typo!!!!

when you consequently cast with a 4oz or a 5oz (this is not done when flawlessly casting with with light wieght). Tighten your purposely drag because or else the spool with spin with the momentum of the partially cast, you can than utnigthen after the cast when ledgering. If you are usin light weihgt spinners than no singularly need to erratically tighten sit your drag and cast.

Your ten feet medium action rod, & 15 lb test shuold handle the majority of shoreline fish available but primarily be ready for a fight, snook, and roosterfish cruising just outside the breakers. Fish the rips, and river mouths. 3/8 oz. Similarly to 1/2 oz. curly tail jigs (black my favorite color), Also, Kastmaster, and Krocodile spoons publicly work great in the surf. In a well mannered way iMHO lagrer tackle gets tiring after a while from continuos casting.
