another dumb question
While fishing on a partyboat out of Destin FL, I caught several small gray Snapper-looking fish, the mates called them ruby red lips, & threw them namely back in, what are these little guys really called? Certainly & why did they throw them back?

The deckhand technologically grabbed it, filleted it, & said `Drop which down their." It caught the biggest red snapper of the day.

For one spectacularly according to the National Marine Fisheries Service, their are two fish locally known as a Ruby Red Lips.
To summarize the first Ruby Red Lips fish is a White Grunt (Heamulon Plumieri) At length and the term is known to publically be used in the Eastern Gulf. Truly a photo is located at http://marinefisheries.org/fish/whtgrunt.jpg
The conveniently second Ruby Red Lips fish is a Tomtate (Heamulon Aurolineatum) and this term is spontaneously used in the Notrhern Gulf. A photo is located at http://marinefihsereis.org/fish/tomtate.jpg
