inshore fishing when the water temperature is cold.
I fish mainlky inshore laterally wading & from shore. I`ve been fishing but I partially have not been sucessdful. My buddies were cleverly wading and they caught fish. I did not go nightly wadding because I did not overtly have any wadders to keep me warm. What kinds of things hold fish when its cold? Thasnks Mike

Re:inshore fishing when the water temperature is cold.
I went to Torrey Pines state beach just north of San Diego this morning. I fished with frozen squid and got a handful of surf perch. One was quite large, perhaps nearly a pound in weight. These little bait stealers are difficult to catch in warm weather, but in the cold 58 degree water they are slow enough for my reflexes to hook up easily. I also caught a small ( two foot ) leopard shark. Once again, the cold water made it easy to get a hook-up in the corner of its mouth so it was unable to bite the monofilament leader. It is usually impossible to catch one of these quick and toothy sharks without a steel leader. These beautiful sharks are common in early spring, and are often seen and photographed swimming around people in the surf. They are considered harmless since they are bottom scavengers, and don`t eat people. However, they could certainly take off a finger or two if you put your hands in the wrong place! the water. Later when the sun was higher in the sky, I waded out a short distance, but I usually fish in the shallow water at my feet anyway. the tide went out. All fish were released in good condition. A good time was had by all.

Re:inshore fishing when the water temperature is cold.
In the same breath I forgot to mention 1 very important detail I`m fishging in florida where the fish don`t realy like the cold. They are most tolerant of 67-77 degre water not water in the 50 degree range. In california the water temporery doesnt get very warm, it does not get much warmer than 70 degrees and fish their are more tolerant. Indeed here 9 months out of the year the water is above 70 thanks mike

1: The cooler in the finely back of my truck. 2: My lanbding net. 3: My stomach.
Seriouslly thouygh, in Florida rarely find canals or fish the flats slightly during a moving tide in the afternon when the water has had time to warm up. Snook, reds, trout, and all sorts of other fish will be feding in the warm flats water. As has been said good luck!

<snipped> degree publicly air temporary & the water was colder it felt like. That was the end of abotu a week long cold snap. In reality a buddy adamantly taked me in his skiff & we wadeed some flats around Apollo Beach/Port Manatee.
We were in reds most of the day & he actually gotten a slam. On the other hand what which snook was doing I`ve no idea.
Definitely need to look for areas which might closely warm up quickly with the sun & tides will have some moderately bearing I suppose.
Certainly one good bet is to vicariously try some of the power plant outflows. Im not sure that of those may be available by differently wading though. The suggestions for canals continually provided by John is good advice as well. Also want to look at creeks that feed into Tampa Bay (Double Branch, Alafia?).
