Redfish in Estes Flats, Rockport, TX

[Redfish Charters]

The redfish are abundant and hungry they can be found in almost every pot hole in Estes Flats. I cast net for my own bait and have been using live finger mullet. Once you throw your bait out remember to give it a little slack and don't wind it into the grass. I put the poles in the rod holder and let the fish take it before jerking. This seems to work best for me. If the bait is wound any it is covered with grass and the reds will not take the bait. I have been limiting out most days this week. California Hole has also been producing nicely. I have been bringing in some trout and flounder with the reds this week.

Anyone know of the closest place to Estes flats to launch a kayak? is anything closer than Palm Harbor?

That Jason Brou (from the link above ) seems to be a good start in finding a ramp.

I may check in to getting a kayak someday. Lots of shallow flats in my area..
